STITCHERS' PARADISE
The Needlework Shop With The Incredible Inventory
Lokscroll Scroll Bars
by Artisan Designs
The Lokscroll has a number of features that make it a superior scroll frame.
1) The sidebars are oak with a hand rubbed Danish
oil finish.
2) An extra tensioning knob is included so your needlework can be tensioned without
touching the fabric/threads.
3) You DON'T have to sew your piece onto the scroll rods! Rather, you
"lock" your piece to the scroll frame by trapping the fabric between a fillet rod and a groove in the scroll rod.
More details of how the Lokscroll works are shown at the foot of this page.

More information about the features of Lokscroll.
By far, the best feature is the lock feature. We have seen other attempts to secure fabric but there always seems to be some problem, like slippage with thinner fabrics. Not so with the Lokscroll! The following pictures will illustrate how the lock works (a 2" wide strip of
sheeting was used to make the pictures easier to see and to demonstrate how tightly the
lock works with a thin fabric - canvas also works fine):
First, you wrap the fabric around the small fillet rod. You then simply insert the fillet rod into the slot in the scroll rod, which grips the fabric and makes it secure.

You do the same thing with the other end of the fabric, tighten the scroll rods and, viola, your piece is mounted straight and tightly and you are ready to stitch. It is so easy you can dismount a partially complete piece, mount another piece and work on it for awhile.

Note the extra knobs on the inside of the right-hand sidebar in the above picture. These knobs are for tightening your piece. You loosen the outside knobs, turn the inside knob to tighten, then tighten the outside knobs...all without touching your piece. (Left handers simply rotate the scroll frame 180 degrees so the tensioning knobs are on the left hand side.)
